On some level we all love the arts. Whether it be music, photography, painting, culinary creations, fashion, the list goes on. It’s no different here at the Wazala headquarters. Where I would say we love the arts a bit more than average, which is why our relationship with international art curator RAWartists.org is so important to us. I had the good fortune of attending the RAWards finals in Los Angeles and the talent and passion of the show has inspired me to share the love.
Out of the thousands of participants in this years RAWards competition 9 winners were selected from each genre. I have been inspired by these artists and will be creating an ongoing series featuring this year’s winners. First, in the series is a young woman from my home town of St. Louis, Missouri, Yolanda Newman.
Yolanda’s accessory line, Yoro Creations, is a collection of earrings, bracelets, and necklaces that are elegant and beautiful. Yolanda marries form and function in each piece that is crafted with over 10 years of experience and an obvious passion for jewelry design. Using precious stones, aluminum, nickel, glassware, and crystal Yolanda fashions her pieces to standout and compliment the wearer. She describes her jewelry as, “bold, chic, eclectic, classic, and most of all it’s for everyone…”
I was most impressed with a particular line of jewelry called “The Angel Band.” These bracelets and earrings are handmade and proceeds of each sale go toward raising awareness and healing victims of violent sexual assault. Not only do the pieces look great, but support a great cause. Congratulations Yolanda, I can’t wait to see what you create in 2014.
