Add Some Holiday Cheer To Your Ecommerce Website

First impressions do count, and in ecommerce this affects your conversions more than you wish to believe. Let’s think like a shopper for a minute. I land on a site in November that has no mention of Christmas and see their everyday branding. My first thought, there are no bargains worth browsing! Yikes! Don’t let this be you! Simple tweaks in your ecommerce design during the Holiday season can lead to more sales. So let’s go through some ideas to help revamp your site.

Home page banners
Very similar to department stores, holiday decorations and clearly marked items as deals or gift ideas work! Updating your home page banners with Holiday cheer and special promotions goes a long way. Decide whether these banners would include products you feel could sell well, overstocked items you wish to sell more of, or even product bundles in pre-wrapped gift boxes. Rotating these on the top half of your landing page and linking directly to the product will make it easier for the customer to buy. It’s all about ease of navigation and delivering your customer with ideas as soon as they land on your site.

Merry up your logo
Don’t be scared to tweak your logo or slogan with some Holiday inspired image or play on words. The home decor brand “Pier1Imports” capitalized on this last year with the awesome twist of “Cheer1Imports”. It was clearly stamped on their website and all social channels. Take the leap of faith and find your own twist, from snowflakes to bells, the ideas are limitless.

Change up your store colors
Whether your Wazala store is added to your site as a pop up (overlay) or embed you can tweak the colors of the store. An easy way to have your store match the new Season look of your website, and complete your branded image. Make sure to consider your brand colors and from there decide on a color palette that works for you, Christmas is not always red and green!

Customize labels
An awesome feature in Wazala is the ability to edit the store wording. So instead of the “Buy Now” button, consider “Gift”, or instead of “Favorites” consider “Santa’s List”, and Contact us can be “Contact the Elves”. Creativity plays a major role here, just make sure that the words you use are easy to comprehend and have fun with it.

Count down with urgency
Capture impulse buyers with an urgency marketing technique. A simple countdown tool added to your site, marking the days left to Christmas can trigger customers to act. Many of these are free on the web, others with a small fee allow some customization to the look and feel, as well as adding a second countdown that can be used for your cut-off-dates like “10 Days Left For Free Shipping!” or “2 Days Left For Christmas Guaranteed Delivery”.

Do the same for social channels
Remember your website is not the only place customers find you. Your blog, Facebook, Twitter, Google+, and even Pinterest are all entry zones that help. Make sure your branding is cohesive across all, and your messages are clearly stated everywhere. Social commerce should be a driving force behind your Holiday marketing.

I hope these ideas inspire you, but if you’re feeling overwhelmed consider hiring a designer or a professional service to help you out. Remember these are all tweaks so it shouldn’t break your marketing budget.
