RAW Artist Profile: Deviant Savant
Deviant Savant pushes visual boundaries invoking emotionally charged reactions that linger in the dark spaces of your mind. When I first came across the Deviant Savant Wazala store I knew this was something special. The art has a primal rawness and sensuality that is unique to our marketplace and is definitely worth taking a closer look. For our first RAW artist profile Wazala takes a look at the visual art of Deviant Savant.
Sterling Lane is the creative mind behind the images of Deviant Savant. His journey started over 25 years ago at the age of six when he was given an old Yashuda twin reflex camera by his father. That gift was the spark that ignited into a flame of creativity. Lane focused on refining his talents through high school and attended the Art Institute of Atlanta, getting his degree in visual communications. After finishing school Lane traveled the world capturing beautiful images and finding inspiration leading him to create his “cemetery series.” This body of work takes a place that is full of emotional energy and captures its subtle beauty and finds peace throughout each individual composition. Lane hopes to launch an initiative through this work called “Unearthing Hope” that will raise money and awareness for hospice care across the country.
Deviant Savant is member of international artist collective RAWArtists.org and was nominated for photographer of the year in the 5th annual RAWards competition.
